Authorities searching for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, are still operating under the belief that she is alive, 11 days after she was reported missing.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed on Feb. 11 that the investigation is continuing with the assumption that Nancy, 84, is still alive. The FBI’s Phoenix office also announced that numerous agents are conducting an extensive search along multiple roadways in the Catalina Foothills area in connection with the case.
Nancy was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31, when she was dropped off at her Arizona home around 9:48 p.m. after having dinner with her daughter Annie and her son-in-law. Her family reported her missing the next day at approximately 12:03 p.m. after she failed to meet friends for a church livestream.
Authorities believe she was kidnapped in the early morning hours of Feb. 1. Blood discovered on the exterior porch of her home was later confirmed to match her DNA.
On Feb. 10, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department released newly uncovered images and video showing an armed individual wearing gloves and a face covering who appeared to tamper with the camera at Nancy’s front door on the morning of her disappearance.
Savannah Guthrie shared the images on social media, writing, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.” She and her siblings have repeatedly urged anyone with information to contact the FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Since Nancy’s disappearance, several media outlets have received alleged ransom notes from individuals claiming to be involved. Initial deadlines reportedly passed on Feb. 5 and Feb. 9. An individual was previously arrested in connection with an imposter ransom demand, though authorities have said they have not identified a suspect in the abduction.
Savannah and her siblings have posted emotional videos pleading for help and asking for proof of life, saying they are willing to pay for their mother’s safe return.
The FBI and local authorities continue to ask the public for any tips that could help bring Nancy Guthrie home.
