Furious 'Karen' explodes at neighbour for chopping down a tree branch hanging over her property - but not everyone is on his side

Footage of a furious 'Karen' exploding at her neighbour for chopping down a tree branch hanging over her property has divided opinion online.

Video shared on TikTok showed the woman ordering her neighbour and the tradesmen she hired not 'to cut her f***king tree down'.

The workers said they were only trimming the woman's tree back to the fence line, but the furious resident claimed they had gone beyond that point and were chopping down branches on her side of the fence.

'We're just doing the fence line,' one of the workers in hi-vis clothing said.

'No you're not - it's coming over the edge,' the neighbour replied as she pointed at branches she claimed had been cut down on her side of the fence.

'You are cutting my tree down.'

The patronising worker replied that he was 'sorry to hear' she was upset, prompting the woman to angrily chastise him and demand they stop cutting down the tree.

'You're sorry to hear that or you're sorry to do that?' she asked. 'Don't cut my f**king tree down.'

A second video showed the tradesmen offering to come into her backyard and remove the tree trimmings.

'No you're not - you're not taking the rubbish. It's fallen into my yard,' she said before throwing a tree branch back over the fence.

'I'm throwing it now so get out of the way.'

Some viewers sided with the resident who hired the workers, claiming her neighbour was being rude and unreasonable.

'I don't see the problem?' one person wrote. 'Whenever my neighbours cut back my trees in their yards I always yell out and let them know they can chuck it over the fence!'

'More on this story on A Karen Affair tonight at 7pm,' another said.

'She has a point - you could have dealt with this in a better way,' one said.

'On further inspection it does look like they were cut beyond the fence line and into her yard,' another added.

In NSW, the law allows neighbours to cut each other's trees down if they become a nuisance to their own property.

The pruner though incurs the cost of any work to cut any branches back, regardless of who owns the tree.

The state's Tree Disputes Between Neighbours Act 2006 legislation states neighbours should then return the tree waste to the owner as it is their property.
