On the night of April 28, 1881, just two weeks before he was set to be hanged, the infamous outlaw Billy the Kid was sitting in a jail cell on the top floor of the Lincoln, New Mexico courthouse, awaiting his fate.

Then he asked the deputy who was watching over him to let him use the outhouse around the back of the building.  On the way back to his cell, Billy slipped out of his handcuffs, beat the deputy, grabbed his gun, and shot him in the back.  His legs still shackled, Billy then snatched the shotgun belonging to the other deputy who'd gone to the restaurant across the street earlier in the evening. Billy ran to the window, saw the other deputy coming back to the courthouse in response to the gunshot and yelled to him, "Look up, old boy, and see what you get."  When he looked up, Billy shot him dead. Then, he used an axe to break his shackles, stole a horse, and fled. Legend has it he was singing as he rode out of town.

However, one of the gorillas, called Binti Jua, meaning “daughter of sunshine” went over to the boy and cradled him in her arms, all while her own young child was on her back.    She then went over to the edge of the enclosure and waited for the zookeepers to come and collect the child.   Binti handed the child over peacefully before returning to the rest of the gorillas. Binti received worldwide praise and received regular treats for the next few weeks.    The boy and the mother have never been identified, but the boy did stay in a hospital for 4 days.    Animal behavioral experts claim Binti used her maternal instincts to look after the child. This may have been influenced by the fac

The depraved brothers who drugged, raped and beat women they found in lonely heart columns during a 20-year reign of terror

Image
They were a depraved pair of brothers of whom it was said beating and raping women was "almost a way of life". For two decades Graham and Simon Laskey preyed upon vulnerable women across South Wales, some of whom they found in the lonely hearts columns of newspapers. They drugged their victims before sexually abusing them, keeping some of the women prisoner in their caravan for days on end. The siblings ruled their victims by fear and thought they could get away with anything. And for many years they did just that - until one teenager plucked up the courage to tell her mother what had happened to her. The mother - who had herself been sexually abused by the brothers - went to the police In response South Wales Police launched what was at the time one of the largest investigations of its kind. It would take detectives two years to bring the brothers to justice. The investigation led to a five-week trial - when their victims were forced to relive their abuse

The girl cried as she was sentenced but what this cop did was amazing

A 20-year-old woman named Candrea Cook was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her involvement in a carjacking and battery incident. The sentence came as a shock to Cook, her mother, and her defense attorney, who had expected probation or house arrest. Cook maintained that her legal counsel had promised her she would not receive a state prison sentence.  The incident raised questions about fairness and sparked controversy on social media, with many commentators expressing the belief that Cook's sentence was too harsh. The incident occurred when Cook arranged a meeting for sex with an older man, knowing it was a setup for a robbery by her boyfriend, who was also involved and was shot during the incident. The gunman has not been caught, and Cook was arrested several weeks later. Despite the controversy, Lieutenant Dan Dietrich of

A reward was offered, but it wasn't until about eight months later that someone saw a boy resembling young Bobby in Mississippi. The man who had the boy in his care, William Cantwell Walters, was arrested. Bobby's parents were reunited with the child but they weren't sure if it was him. The would-be Bobby didn't seem sure of Percy and Lessie either.   Ultimately, Bobby was taken home by the Dunbars, met by a grand parade and countless well-wishers upon their return to Opelousas, LA. For his part, Walters identified the boy as Bruce Anderson, his illegitimate nephew. The boy's mother, Julia, confirmed it was, in fact, her son. Walters was pu
